After 8 Years, Senate Gets a New Chief Budget Writer
Senator Elizabeth Steiner has been the Ways and Means Co-Chair since 2018, and is currently running for State Treasurer.
A family physician, Senator Steiner formerly served as the Chair of the Oregon Academy of Family Physicians.
Revenue Forecast Up . . . But
The Revenue forecast is up, which would push the state over the 2% cap from the original budget forecast in 2023, meaning that an equivalent amount will go back to taxpayers in a "Kicker." At this point, that reduces revenue available to the Legislature to spend in the next biennium by approximately $300 million.
